Making life more affordable
We’re working to make life more affordable for all British Columbians by reducing child care fees, building more affordable homes, and reducing ICBC premiums. And we’re putting more money in people’s pockets with the new BC Child Opportunity Benefit.
Delivering better services
We're improving the services people count on. From delivering faster and better health care, and building new and safer schools, to investments that will help communities better respond to and recover from wildfires, floods and other emergencies.
Investing in a sustainable economy
We're creating opportunities for all British Columbians, including 100,000 jobs with new investments to build roads, schools and hospitals. And we're making a college or university education more affordable with the new BC Access Grant.

Budget 2020 builds on the progress we’ve made
Better child care
We're investing more than $2 billion over the next three years to expand child care options for B.C. families, saving parents money.
Eliminating MSP premiums
We're saving families up to $1,800 this year - $900 for individuals - with the first full year of the elimination of MSP premiums.
Reconciliation
We're taking new steps towards reconciliation and delivering on revenue-sharing commitments that are helping strengthen local First Nations communities.
Homes for B.C.
We're building 114,000 new homes with B.C'.s largest ever investment in housing affordability - 23,000 new homes are already completed or underway in nearly 90 communities.
Transforming ICBC
We're creating a more affordable and accountable ICBC. Starting next year, ICBC premiums will be reduced by an average of 20% — or $400 for drivers.
Improving health care
We're working to help people get the care they need, when they need it with new urgent and primary care centres, new and expanded hospitals, and new funding for health care.
Responding to wildfires and floods
We're significantly boosting funding to $519 million to help B.C. better prepare for, respond to and recover from wildfires, floods and other emergencies.
BC Child Opportunity Benefit
We're giving nearly 300,000 families a little help every month with the cost of necessities for kids under 18 with the new Child Opportunity Benefit.
BC Access Grant
We're making college and university education more affordable for more than 40,000 students with the new BC Access Grant.
